15AC-459 was built in 1949. According to the Canadian Civil Aircraft Register's historic and current records, this Sedan has been based in the province of Quebec, Canada, at least since 1975.
Montmagny Air Service operated it commercially between 1975 and 1985. Mounted on wheels during the summer months and on skis in the winter, it shuttled passengers and tourists between its home base of Montmagny, a small town just east of the city of Quebec, and the islands in the Saint Lawrence River, such as the Isle-aux-Grues, Isle-aux-Coudres, etc. During its ownership, Montmagny Air Service converted the Sedan to the 180 hp Lycoming engine.
Since 1986, it was owned and privately operated by Marie-Louis Malenfant of Biencourt, Quebec. After his passing in 2011, the aircraft was sold to its current owners, Jacques Tardif and Jean-Marc Boucher in September 2012. They restored and flew it privately, until 2013, when they put it up for sale again, describing it as follows:
"TTAF 5691. Lycoming 180 hp engine 443 hrs SMOH. New are: Radio, instruments, mufflers, Cleveland wheels and brakes, throttle cable, interior. Fabric new in 2006. EDO 2000 floats with fresh paint. Airglas 3000 skis. ELT 406. Constant speed propeller due April 2017. Installation is ready for a Garmin GPS type 196/296/396/496. Wing AD done, no corrosion found. $ 20'000 invested within one year. Very good performer."
We lost trace of C-FDDE and hope that it found a new owner who enjoys flying it frequently! Should you have more information about this specific Sedan, please let us know, thanks!
